Caesar Rodney came away with a hard fought overtime win 21-20 at Appoquinimink on Friday night.
Throughout the first half, neither team could get much going.
With 17 seconds left in the half, Caesar Rodney would get on the board thanks to Kevin Robinson’s 3 yard Touchdown run. The extra point would be good and they’d go up 7-0.
In the third quarter, Caesar Rodney would have a chance to put 3 more up with 5:34 to go. A 29 yard FG attempt would be no good. The score would stay 7-0.
With ten minutes to go in the game, Appoquinimink would score as Shane Phipps found Cameron Bernardo from 10 yards out. The 2 point conversion attempt would be no good. Appoquinimink would trail 7-6.
As the game moved under the five minute mark, Shane Phipps would find Joseph Scott-Thomas for 47 yards over the middle. They would be stopped at the 2.
Three plays later, Shane Phipps would find Scott-Thomas in the end zone. The two-point conversion would be good. The Jaguars would go up 14-7.
On the ensuing kickoff, Caesar Rodney would return it for a touchdown, tying the game at 14 with 2:32 left.
The game would go to Overtime.
On the 1st possession in overtime, Caesar Rodney would pick off Appoquinimink in the end zone. Meanwhile, Caesar Rodney would have their 21 yard attempt blocked.
On the second possession, Emmanuel Kennedy would punch it in for Caesar Rodney. The extra point would be good as they now lead 21-14.
On Appoquinimink’s possession, Shane Phipps would punch it in for the Jaguars. However, the 2 point conversion would be no good and Caesar Rodney would win 21-20.
