Smyrna and Newark Charter met in the second ever DIAA unified flag football championship and Newark won 27-8 to claim both.
Special athlete Eric Anderson had a few big runs including one that landed in the endzone during the effort leading the Patriots to victory.
Smyrna grabbed a safety the first play from scrimmage and followed with a touchdown but it was all Patriots from there.
Between Eric Anderson’s big run, Isaiah Anderson’s interception, and some excellent teamwork, Newark Charter got on a roll like butter and it was hard to stop them.
“This is my favorite sport because i get to play with my friends,” said Isaiah Anderson, after the game. “It feels nice to have another state championship.”
Congratulations to both teams on a well played season and Newark Charter on winning the first two unified flag football championships.
