Flight A champion Middletown will carry the No. 1 seed into this month’s DIAA Division 1 Soccer Tournament for the first time in program history.
Middletown went 14-1 in the regular season, with their only loss coming to Division 2 Caravel, the top seed in that bracket.
Defending champion Padua, who played an extremely challenging out-of-state schedule, had to settle for the No. 2 seed.
The quarterfinals include an intriguing rematch between Appoquinimink and Charter, a game won by the Jags 2-1 in overtime.
The sites for the tournament will be determined by the DIAA at a later date, with two divisions of soccer, along with boys and girls lacrosse all needing artificial turf surfaces, the hunt for good neutral sites will be determined by what teams advance.
