Smyrna and Laurel earned the top seeds for the 2018 DIAA Dual Meet Wrestling Championships being held Saturday at Smyrna.

Smyrna earned the top seed in Division I after finishing as a tri-champion in the Henlopen North. They defeated Caesar Rodney, but lost to Sussex Central, who lost to CR to create the knot. A major tiebreaker may have been their performances against Salesianum, with the Eagles being the only Henlopen team to defeat the Sals, helping them earn the No. 2 seed.

Dover earned the fifth seed, while Fight A St. Georges earned the automatic bid to complete the field. If form holds, Smyrna would face a 2017 championship rematch with Central in the semifinal, which would give them a chance to avenge the regular season loss.

In Division II, Laurel’s victory over Indian River on Wednesday afternoon earned them the outright Henlopen South championship, and the No. 1 seed. Defending champion Milford had to settle for the No. 3 seed, and if they can get past Woodbridge, they’d face Indian River in the semifinals.

The other semifinal is a rematch of a tight regular season matchup between Archmere and DMA. Archmere edged the Seahawks 37-36 with a major decision win in the final bout.

A.I. duPont earned the Flight B title and its automatic bid, but withdrew from the tournament due to injuries, opening the slot for Woodbridge.
