Dover travelled to Salesianum on Wednesday and came away with a 4-3 victory in 9 innings.
Salesianum would start the scoring in the top of the first. The first three batters for Salesianum all got on via the walk. Connor Murphy would ground out but Zachary Gwynn would score giving the Sallies a 1-0 lead.
The next batter was Anthony Frechette, he would single scoring both Michael Cautillo and Joshua Maguire. Salesianum would lead 3-0 after one.
Dover’s Andrew Carney started the game on the hill but would be pulled after six batters. Hiram Davis would come in with just 1 out in the 1st, but get out of the inning with no more runs crossing the plate.
In the second inning, Dover would start to chip away. They would get their first two batters on via the walk. Hiram Davis then got a single via the bunt loading the bases.
Dylan Jacobs would ground into a Fielder’s Choice, but Andrew Carney would score closing the gap to 3-2.
In the 6th inning, Dover will tie the game at 3 as Christopher Dabney scored after getting on via a walk.
We would go to extra innings with the score tied at 3 after 7.
In the bottom of the 8th, Salesianum would load the bases. Dover’s Hiram Davis would then be pulled for Dominic Velazquez. He would then strike out the side and keep the score tied at 3 as we headed to the 9th.
In the top of the 9th, Noah Lanouette doubled to start the inning for Dover. Michael Carrington was then intentionally walked.
Andrew Carney then walked, unintentionally.
With the bases loaded, Joseph Gray who was at third base would steal home giving DFover a 4-3 lead.
Dominic Velazquez would then give up a single and strike out 3 more batters in the 9th to give Dover the victory and advance.
