Howard’s girls basketball team opened up their season on the road against Concord and came away with a 68-52 victory.

An aggressive and dominant first period put the Wildcats in the lead 20-7 but also in foul trouble.

The Raiders outscored Howard by three in the second as Zhan’e Snow would put up eight and Carli Marsilii would add another seven. with a combined nine foul shots made by Concord.

A 10-point margin and neither team could capitalize in the third. Concord’s Snow and Howard’s Kayla Rouse would both put up eight in the closing stanza but the difference was Na’leigha Wright putting up a key six points to help in staving off the Raider comeback.

Rouse lead Howard with 19 points on the night with an incredible presence in the paint.

Snow lead the Raiders with 17 but it wasn’t enough to get the rest of her team running on all cylinders at any point during the game.

Howard will take this win and head home to host Delcastle on Thursday.

Concord stays put and welcomes Mt. Laurel on the same night.
