Caravel’s Nick Jones drove in four runs to help the Bucs rally past Hodgson 10-2 in a Good Friday matinee.
Hodgson took a 2-1 lead after the first inning on Michael Deery’s blast over the tall wall in left field.
Colin Adams had given the Bucs the lead with an RBI double in the first inning, and tied the game in the 3rd with a sacrifice fly to bring home Tyler Juhl, who led off the inning with a single.
Caravel claimed the lead for good in the 4th inning, ad singles by Ethan ReRegis and Tyler Longinotti set up Jones for a 2-run double that bounced all the way to the left field wall. Jones would later score on a passed ball to push the lead to 5-2.
Another three-run inning came in the 5th, with Jones again providing the two-run hit, this time a single to center, with another run coming on a dropped fly ball.
Alex Barker singled in another run as part of a 2-run, 7th inning that finished the scoring.
The offense supported Aaron Holiday, who entered for starter Wyatt Nelson with one out in the second inning, and he was brilliant.
Holiday surrendered just one hit (3 walks) in 4 full innings of shutout baseball. He struck out 8 Silver Eagles. Alex Barker came in to record the final two outs for the victory.
Caravel won their second straight game to move to 5-3 on the season, they’ll host Polytech at 3pm on Tuesday.
Hodgson (3-3) will try to bounce back with a Flight B home game against Dickinson on Thursday.
