It was frigid outside, but Hodgson got hot in the second half and defeated William Penn 65-40 on Saturday morning.

Throughout the first quarter things would stay tight between the two teams.

Hodgson would take a 9-5 lead with 3:16 left in the quarter, before William Penn rattled off the next 7 to go up 3.

Ja-Naiah Perkins-Jackson would get a bucket and convert the free throw after getting fouled on the play to tie the game at 12 with 51 seconds left.

Alyssa Waters would hit a free throw with 12 seconds left in the quarter for Hodgson, and they would lead by 1 after 1.

In the second quarter, things would stay tight early.

Hodgson would push the lead to 17-13 after Kayla Braxton-Young hit two free throws with 6:56 left in the half.

William Penn would close the gap quick and go up 18-17.

Hodgson would then outscore William Penn 12-5 to end the half and lead 29-22 after two.

In the third, Hodgson would blow the game open outscoring William Penn 25-6.

The Silver Eagles would continue to increase the lead in the fourth quarter and would be up 64-31 late.

William Penn would hit three three-pointers (2 by Dairayonna Stewart-Harold, 1 by Ashley Gallagher) as the game winded down to make the final 65-40.
