#2 Padua Academy took a stroll down I-95 Tuesday night to take on #7 Newark Charter High School for both teams’ season opener.

The Padua Pandas got going early and often taking both of the first 2 by a score of 25-11.

The Patriots of Newark Charter would rally through the 3rd set pushing the score through 25, ultimately taking it 28-6 after encouraging words from junior Abigail Carbajal.

Padua brings it home in 4 putting the exclamation point on the end of the match taking the final set 25-14.

Leading the Pandas’ effort were seniors Emma Lucey and Emily Jarome.

Lucey lead the academy with 40 assists while Jarome’s kill count came to 23.

Charter gets a day to regroup hosting Tatnall on Thursday.

Padua looks to stay hot in their home-opener Thursday taking on Virginia’s Paul VI Catholic.
