St. Georges would start out hot and then hold on late to defeat Appoquinimink in Middletown 79-70.

St. Georges would build an early 8-0 lead. Appoquinimink would close the deficit to 4 at 12-8, but the Hawks would lead by 7 after 1.

Early in the second, St. Georges pushed the lead to 13 at 28-15 before Appoquinimink rattled off the next 10 points fueled by Myles Cale and 2 of his 5 dunk’s on the night.

However, the Hawks would then go on a 13-4 run of their own and lead by 12 at the break.

In the third, St. Georges would increase the lead to 14 at 50-36. The Jaguars would again answer with 8 straight to keep them in the game.

Appoquinimink would close to within 5 as the third came to a close with Myles Cale draining a three.

The Jaquars would get within 3, hitting the first bucket of the fourth, but they could not get any closer as the Hawks hit 14 free throws in the quarter to seal the win.

Myles Cale led all scorers with 34 for Appoquinimink. Kyson Rawls had 24 and Nah’Shon Hyland had 23 for St. Georges. They were a combined 24 of 26 from the line.

St. Georges will next travel to face Christiana on Friday, Feb. 17th. Appoquinimink will next travel to face Middletown on Thursday, Feb. 16th.
